Ariana Grande is gearing up to release her latest single, “yes, and?” tonight, prompting her devoted fanbase to dive into speculation about her upcoming album. The pop sensation’s last studio album, “positions,” was unveiled in 2020, featuring tracks like “34+35” and “just like magic.” As fans eagerly await the midnight debut of “yes, and?” there’s a prevailing belief that Grande might be titling her seventh album “Eternal Sunshine.” This conjecture arises from coordinates she shared on Instagram while teasing her new music video.
In a teaser clip, a red card displays “ag7” alongside the message “your presence has been exclusively requested” and coordinates pointing to Montauk, New York – the backdrop of the Jim Carrey film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.”
This film holds sentimental value for Grande’s ex, Mac Miller, who mentioned it in a 2013 interview with Complex during their relationship, describing it as one of his favorites.
“I love Jim Carrey when he’s being serious. He killed this role. Whenever I’m talking to a girl, I always tell them to watch Eternal Sunshine. It cuts deep,” Miller shared.
While Grande has openly expressed her admiration for Jim Carrey, the potential album title, “Eternal Sunshine,” could be seen as a nod to Miller’s sentiments about the film.
Grande has consistently paid tribute to Miller since his passing in 2018. Last year, she commemorated the 10-year anniversary of “The Way” by releasing a new version of the track with added strings, including a tribute to Miller in the accompanying video. The pop star has also incorporated nods to Miller in her makeup line, r.e.m. beauty, with shade names like “Pickin Petals,” a lyric from “The Way.” Additionally, Miller is acknowledged in her song “Thank U, Next,” where she refers to him as an “angel.” Notably, during a special concert on the video game Fortnite, Grande’s avatar climbed a stairway to heaven after performing “The Way.”
